4 Simple ways to achieve your goals.

Happy new year to you! I wish this year to be full of inspiration and growth, and for you to achieve as many of your goals! Struggling to stick to your new year resolutions? Fear not! Here's what you need to do. Pick out between 2-4 goals that you really want to achieve. Over the last couple of years, I would always make several goals that were very broad and I never really managed to stick to them. By having a smaller, more specific set of goals, I found that it was easier

    Z. B. | Interview 3

What Mental health do you struggle with? Anxiety. And how long have you had it? Well it first started second year of GCSEs, so year 11. How old would I be then? I think it was 16 because it started after my birthday, I remember that. This is so funny now when I think back at it but, um, well basically it was the World Book Day thing so we got to dress up, like I was so excited, I got my Harry Potter gear ready for that day. I woke up that day and I was already feeling quite i

Broken Lovers III | Adeela Ejaz

Broken lovers III My love for him Left even the sun jealous. For how could someone Be full of so much love? An emotion so pure Fulfilling. He was a storm My body desired. He left bruises Where no one could see. And I craved it even more. He was the shadows That danced with the fears That left us awake at night Terrified. He was one of the many devils That whispered things That your insecurities already screamed at you. Yet I yearned for more. What did the Gods have in mind Wh

Fave colour: Blue (more like cobalt blue) Fave fruit: Melon Fave author: Patrick Ness What mental health do you suffer from? I haven't been tested yet, which I need to go to the GP first and do that but I believe I have anxiety. It's getting worse and worse and worse since the beginning of the university so I've started to think about it and note that I should go out and get tested or checked out because sometimes its meh and it needs help. I don't think I have a big case but

Sexual violence: The role of #MeToo in empowering victims

The #MeToo movement became a viral hashtag in October 2017 on social media in hopes of demonstrating the pervasiveness of sexual harassment and assault in modern society. It was originally stated by Tarana Burke in 2007 and aims to provide support to sexual violence survivors who are, “marginalised, poor, underrepresented and without a network or community to protect them” (Guardian, 2017). This movement has empowered women to show victims they are not alone and have no reaso

Things Falling Apart | Adeela Ejaz

Things Falling Apart When there’s no where to turn And no one can hear you. When your heart bleeds And there’s no way to heal the wound. When everything around you crumbles And falls Do you stay and collapse under everything, Or do you run and never come back? - Adeela Ejaz #poem #poetry #poet #thingsfallingapart #lonely #writing #creativewriting #dailywithdils #adeelaejaz

    Meditation | Mindfulness

Breathe. That’s literally all you gotta do. Just breathe. A lot of us suffer from stress on a daily basis and we fail to do anything about it. It honestly requires the simplest things like taking 5 minutes out of your day and grounding yourself and finding your zen. Only very recently have I realised that I get stressed very easily but what am I doing to stop this? Not much. However, I found something that helps me find peace and my mind from racing. And that is meditating. N

    Michael | Interview 1

What is the particular mental health that you have/struggle with? I have had very obsessive thoughts on a certain topic which has come into play in the fact that I’m autistic and those obsessions were so much so that they really disrupted my life in that my qualifications were going downhill and I was more afraid of hurting other people than myself. I was prepared, that if counselling failed, to make the ultimate sacrifice and I would have taken my own life because I don’t wa

    Project Example | Adeela E

I have suffered from mental health for almost a decade now. I began self harming back in October 2009, I was like 11, turning 12. I later developed anxiety which started off slow but became worse over the years. I think my first depressive episode began at the end of year 9? I must have been 13 or something, or 14 I can't really remember. I began feeling suicidal in April 2014 and then attempted suicide in October/November 2014. Things were just so weird after that. My time a

    Reading Challenge | 2018

As a young kid, I loved reading. It is a great way to escape from reality and live in another world for a while, to learn the lives of different characters. Over the past few years, I've taken part in the Goodreads reading challenge. This year, along with my new year resolution, I have pledged to read 20 books (hopefully, I manage to surpass this number). Here are the books I want to read this year: Reasons to Stay Alive - Matt Haig The Sun and Her Flowers - Rupi Kaur The Fev

Anxiety: Symptoms & Treatments | Mental Health

Anxiety. The word alone enough to put me on edge. Anxiety. What does it really mean? Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worrying. (Source: MedicalNewsToday.com). It's like it has a mind of its own. Kicking into full drive when it wants and ready to leave me shaking, or even worse, ready for a panic attack. How often do I get anxious? I don't really know. For me, anything can trigger it, even an environment I'm so us

    Run Away | Adeela Ejaz

Run Away I want to run away Into the dark Where my soul can get lost. A place where everything seems to make sense. Swallowed by the darkness. Followed by loneliness.
